SUPPLEMENTS and A HEALTHY DIET Vitamins, supplements and a healthy diet are crucial to
attain and maintain great skin. Check if you are allergic to any ingredients externally or
internally before using any products. Consult a health care professional if
you have any concerns, especially if you are pregnant or lactating. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. These are observations of what I have experienced myself and via my models. Take the following daily: Purified Water, half your body weight in ounces. That is the basic scale to figure out how much you need. If you perspire often or drink more diuretic drinks such as coffee, add more. If you weigh 200 pounds, then you should drink 100 ounces per day. Drinking water out of typical house faucets is a bad thing to do. Most towns and cities use chlorine to clean the water -- which is like drinking poison every time you drink from a faucet. Purified water is amazing for your skin. Get rid of drinking soda pop for sure. ![]() I take these 5 supplements first
thing in the morning together: "Buy the Supplement package -- Only $76.00" Omega 3 Vitamin E Vitamin C Chloraphyll Aloe Vera For a sensitive tummy, take only these on an empty stomach. All supplements are better digested after eating some food. The
Omega-3 will sometimes leave a bit of a fish taste if burped, but quickly goes away. Do not take a
multi-vitamin on an empty stomach. Omega-3 Fatty Acids, EPA & DHA, 1 softgel per day -- You can take as little as one every other day if it makes your face too greasy, or as many as one to six per day depending on how youthful and moisturized you want your skin to be. These "healthy fats", are found primarily in oily fish that live in deep cold water. My hands-down favorite is Herbalife's Omega-3. I call these "my little anti-aging pills". Be careful which brand you buy as all Omega 3 pills are not created equal. Vitamin E with Tocopherols, 400 iu once a day -- It is a great antioxidant and great for the skin. Vitamin C, 500 mg to 2000 mg per day -- I take two 1000 mgs tablets two to three times per day or I drink Emergen-C several times throughout the day - especially if I am under a great deal od stress. Vitamin C is great for you and runs through your body quickly. You can take 250 mg every twenty to thirty minutes to help combat the effects of stress on your immune system. The more foods high in vitamin C and vitamin C supplements taken, the younger, clearer and fresher your skin looks. Be careful with acidic vitamin c foods as they can cause break outs. Chloraphyll, 2 softgels per day -- My favorite
skin supplements is Chlorafresh which is chlorophyll with mint which clears yur skin, aides your stomach and is a deodorizer for
your colon tract as well. This little
pill is crucial in my opinion. It is
also great for those who don't always eat their green veggies. Aloe Vera, 3 tablespoons of concentrate with 16 ounces of water -- I use Herbalife's Herbal Aloe Concentrated Drink Mix first thing every morning. Aloe Vera has been noted for soothing the stomach and it has great skin healing qualities. Be careful with Aloe Vera as all Aloes are not the same. I will pick up Aloe Vera gel pills when I am travelling but I can tell the concentrate works a lot better which has to be refrigerated so it's not so easy for travel. I take the following supplements throughout the day with food: Multi-Vitamin with or without iron. A pharmacy grade multi-vitamin is very important. Herbalife's is one of the best. Also, I have read several times that as women get older, they don't need as much iron so please check with your healthcare professional before choosing with or without iron. I do not recommend Centrum or One-A-Day vitamins as they do not absorb well. Some colonic experts found hundreds of these types of vitamins undissolved in the colon. It is very important that you choose a vitamin that absorbs well in your system. If your choice of vitamin lists, 3-6 vitamins per day, these should be spread throughout the day with your meals. Zinc, 50 mg tablet per day - This is a key vitamin if you want to be acne-free. I have found that even if it is already in my multi-vitamin, taking an additional 50 mg. really makes the difference. Make sure to take it with food. Zinc is known to help with the body's ability to heal wounds, so it only makes sense that it helps your skin. Calcium w/magnesium, 500 - 750 mg. of calcium citrate split between 2 meals. This is very essential for women. It is not recommended for men as it has even been linked to increased chances of prostate cancer. Magnesium helps with the absorption of calcium. It is for your overall bone health and women with osteoporosis later in life. Digestive Enzymes, 2 tablets before each meal. Many people have digestive issues whether
they realize it or not. Imagine if you are not digesting all your nutrients correctly - the
amount of havoc that would wreak on your second largest organ, your skin! Digestive enzymes break food down so that the body absorbs nutrients better. If you have a big meal or a
hard to digest meal, you can increase this amount up to 6 regular digestive
enzyme tablets. They are most effective
taken with at least 6 ounces of water 20 minutes prior to a meal but can be
taken with the meal as well. ![]() OTHER THINGS TO
CONSIDER: Vegetables & Fruits. I love veggies but I am bad about eating them which is why I take Chlorafresh. Microwaving vegetables retains the highest level of their vitamins. Steaming is a close second. Whenever I intake a good group of greens and veggies into my diet, my skin really shines. With the conveniences of today, there has to be a way for you to eat more veggies and fruits. Be careful of too much citrus or allergies. Too much citrus can wreak havoc with your skin. Allergies. Common food allergies that can cause skin problems are dairy, beer, tea and nuts/peanuts. If I eat too much cheese or fried foods, I break out the next day and my skin looks tired. If I drink beer or tea on a continual basis, I have huge, cystic-like breakouts within a week. Also, many models have to find ways to combat their allergies due to darkness and puffiness under the eyes. Oils. Bad oils and frying are not good for your skin. We only use olive oil and coconut oil when cooking. The key is to keep everything in moderation. Sugars & Chocolates and Caffeine. I break out when I go overboard on chocolates and sweets - everything in moderderation. Sugars tend to hype or stress people out. In my opinion, too much sugar ages the skin quickly. Some people break out from overuse of coffee which also dehydrates the skin. Stress. This is a big culprit leading to unhealthy skin and body. Find a way to alleviate any of the stressful factors in your life. Top stressors are family problems, health issues, financial problems, working too much, lack of sleep. Meditation, yoga, time out, breathing and physical exercise can all help you to relieve stress. Exercise. This one is key to keeping skin young! Continually working out can make you look years younger. Perspiring is so important to releasing toxins from your body and your skin. Make sure to cleanse your skin properly after working out, as there will still be some toxins hanging out in those cells and you don't want them to exacerbate your skin. After a workout is one of the best times to really get your skin clean as your pores are really open. Sleep. Sleep makes a big
difference on how our entire body functions, including your skin. Do your best to get the minimum amount you
need to function well and know they call it "Beauty Sleep" for a reason. Cut down on your caffeine if you aren't
sleeping well. Keep your evenings chill
if you have a tough time falling asleep. Try natural melatonin or tryptophan if you are still having problems getting some shut
eye. Each individual is different with
their nightly needs to function, but eight hours of sleep is a good
guideline. Smoking. Bad, bad, bad for you! When a model quits smoking, I can see a huge difference in skin color and appearance within a week or two! Make-up. This one is so huge that I can't comment on it enough! First of all, too much make-up makes you look older. Less is best and looking youthful is the beginning of having great skin. Sometimes, just changing a make-up product can cause you to break out less. Make sure to limit your make-up. Most models only use a little non-comedogenic concealer under the eyes, for scars and blemishes, and maybe mascara, skin highlighter and lip gloss. If you run oily, avoid the mistake of using powder all over your face. It makes your pores look larger, and thus, you look older. Hair products and Clothing. Some hair products can cause a break out around the hairline. Some types of clothing and metals can cause rashes.
