![]() OILY/ACNE SKIN You can remedy your problem skin! It will take simple perseverance from you as your skin will improve the more you adhere to this routine. You will need the following: 1.
Oily Skin
Cleanser. Sometimes, if you are
oily and acne prone, an oily skin cleanser is too much for your skin. If so, change to the
normal skin cleanser. Herbalife's last 2 months! Always remove eye
make-up prior to cleansing. 2.
Toner. Toner helps gets rid of any excess residue of
soap and dirt. Herbalife's only costs $14. 3.
Salycic Acid Astringent. I prefer Biore Triple Action Astringent with 2% Salycic
Acid and Witch Hazel 4.
Exfoliating
Scrub. Herbalife's
is fantastic and not irritating to the skin. 5.
Clarifying Mask. Herbalife's or a
clay mask that pulls out impurities. 6.
Acne Treatment
Cream with 10% Benzoyl Peroxide. I prefer Clearasil.
7.
Cotton Pads.
I prefer organic pads circular in form as they pull out
extra dirt. 8.
Light
Moisturizer. For dry patches and
cold, dry days. ![]() For best results, follow this routine: 1. Wet your face. Water should be lukewarm for best results. Sometimes I go warmer but it is psychological thinking hott water gets things cleaner. Dermatologists will tell you lukewarm is best. 2. Apply cleanser. Herbalife only takes one squirt in your wet hands. Work the cleanser into lather. 3. Clean your skin while singing "Happy Birthday To You" three times. Use your fingertips in a circular motion little pressure. Really clean the problem areas continuously while singing to yourself the "Happy Birthday" song 3 times in a row. By singing this little ditty, you know you have spent enough time cleansing your face. Don't forget to cleanse around your hairline and jaw line. Also wash your neck and upper chest with the cleanser while in the shower. 4. Rinse your face. Splash lukewarm water on your face at least 20 times. If you are in the shower, rinse for 20 seconds. Make sure to rinse well around your nose, eyes, hairline and jaw line. 5. Dry your face. Dermatologists state to only pat dry with a clean towel. I rub my face dry for extra exfoliation but not too intensely or around the eye area. You will have to test what works best for you. 6. Apply toner. I love the Herbalife toner! I once tried to go without it and my break outs started to occur. Never have I seen a toner get my face so clean without any irritation. I think it's key to find a great cotton pad. Usually, it takes me two cotton pads to remove extra dirt as I have pretty large pores, but this could depend on the amount of activity and type of skin you have. I apply gentle pressure in a circular motion to remove the dirt. 7. Apply salycic acid. Most people think salycic acid astringents are the same thing as a toner. They are not: It's salycic acid. You want it, in essence, to burn the bacteria off your skin, and get rid of excess oil and acne. I love Biore's Triple Action Astringent because it has 2% salycic acid (many only have 1%), and the witch hazel balances and cools the skin at the same time. Coat your skin with a protective layer by soaking the cotton pad and leaving it to dry on your face. Do it several times in bad areas. If your skin is too sensitive, cut back to a degree where it helps your skin but does not over-irritate it. Perhaps use it on problem areas only. 8. Apply 10% benzoyl peroxide on problem areas. Apply it on all pimples, blackheads and areas where a blemish is beginning to fester. At night time, leave a dab on each blemish and a good layer on the nose where blackheads occur frequently. The 10% benzoyl peroxide helps heal ruptured blemishes so apply throughout the healing process. Benzoyl peroxide is a drying agent so it should be used sparingly if your skin becomes irritated. WARNING: Don't
ever pick, scrub or peel off scabs on your blemishes! The more a scab has the chance to naturally
fall off, the better chance of no scar. 9. Exfoliate. The skin has to be exfoliated so new fresh skin can come to the surface. Your skin cells can build up dirt and bacteria which can causes blemishes and blackheads. Use your exfoliating scrub after your skin cleanser. Keep in the shower. Exfoliate 3 to 5 times a week. Make sure to rinse well. I love Herbalife's exfoliating scrub because it is made out of almonds and easy on the skin. Make sure you are not allergic to almonds. 10. Use a clarifying mask. I am not good about using my clarifying mask but when I do - WOW, does my skin look amazing! If I use it 3 times a week, I barely have any blackheads around my nose at all. Leave it on at least twenty to thirty minutes so it thoroughly dries. Always use after your skin cleanser and put it on around your lips closely. Be careful to not put it on your eye area. Rinse thoroughly. Note that toner used afterwards doesn't pick up much dirt because the mask really gets in there and pulls dirt and bacteria out. 11. Lightly moisturize when needed. I am not a believer that you must wear moisturizer if your skin is already oily. To me, oil is the moisturizer. Still, you may need it lightly where you skin is dry, especially in winter. I like Herbalife's Multivitamin Normal to Oily Moisturizer moisturizes because itdoes not cause my skin to breakout. A moisturizer should be non-comedegenic. Note that the salycic acid part of this routine will keep a protective layer on your face against grime so a moisturizer is not needed as a barrier. If you skip the salycic acid part of this routine, you really need a barrier to protect your skin and a light moisturizer would be best. 12. Heavily moisturize your eye area. The eye area usually needs moisturizing even if your skin is oily or prone to acne. You can use a regular light moisturizer or an eye moisturizer. I use A&D Baby Ointment. It is super cheap, a tube lasts me over a year and it keeps me virtually line free still in my mid-forties. 13. Keep your lips moist. I use A&D Baby Ointment on my lips at night and I live in Chapstick during the day. The point is to make sure you always have something on your lips to protect them. If breakouts occur around your lip area, change what you are using on your lips. 14.
Supplement your
skin. Please review Section One and
follow the vitamin and supplements rigorously, especially if you have acne. ![]() OTHER SUGGESTIONS FOR
CLEAR SKIN:
REMEMBER: Common food allergies that can cause breakouts are dairy, beer and nuts/peanuts. I am a big believer that bad oils and fried foods are not good for your skin (see Section One). I also break out when I go overboard on chocolates and sweets. If you are still breaking out after sticking to this routine after 6 weeks, I recommend you make an appointment with a dermatologist. Some cases of acne are so severe that only
prescription medicine will work. I do
not recommend prescriptions that involve antibiotics. Please, go online and
read up on how many doctors are advising that we all stop misusing
antibiotics. If prescribed for you,
please ask your dermatologist about this and if there are any other
alternatives. ORDER YOUR SKIN PRODUCTS HERE ORDER BOOK | BIO | HOME VITAMINS, SUPPLEMENTS and A HEALTHY DIET | OILY/ACNE SKIN | DRY SKIN | TIPS FOR AGING SKIN |
